New Community Transportation Grant Program announced

Date: December 1, 2017

We are happy to share the news that the Ministry of Transportation is launching a new Community Transportation Grant Program – please see below for the details. The Ministry is funding the Ontario Community Transportation Network to support the new program through information posts, events, webinars and other activities. Watch www.OCTN.ca and @ONCTNetwork on Twitter for further updates.

The Ministry of Transportation is pleased to announce the launch of the new five year Community Transportation Grant Program, Municipal Stream. Building on a successful pilot, the Municipal Stream of the program invites municipalities across the province to deliver local and long distance intercommunity transportation projects in underserved and unserved communities across the province. A total of up to $30 million over five years is available to municipalities, who can apply for grants starting today through Grants Ontario. The program will make it more convenient for  people, including seniors, students, persons living with disabilities and others to connect to essential services in their communities and to travel between cities and towns. Grant applications will be accepted until February 28, 2018.

An additional $10 million will be made available to Indigenous communities, Indigenous-led organizations and not-for-profit organizations to deliver local community transportation projects starting in summer 2018.
